Hornets Elite Shine at the Vic Metro Jamboree

HORNETS ELITE SHINE AT THE VIC METRO JAMBOREE

The Victorian Metro Jamboree, an essential touchpoint in the Basketball Victoria (BV) performance pathway, proudly welcomed athletes from across the region, providing a significant opportunity for skill development within an elite environment. This year, two outstanding talents from the Heathdale Hornets Basketball Club, Metomi Osikoya and Keith Acoba, were among those selected to participate in this prestigious event.
The Jamboree serves not only as an arena for athletic advancement but also as a community-building event where young athletes forge friendships that will accompany them throughout their journey on the performance pathway.
Erwin, head coach of the Hornets Nobles, praised the young athletes, saying, “I think them playing in the Jamboree was a good end to their U12 top age rep season. Having three phases of tryouts, the boys did really well, and it was a great experience playing with and against the top 80 boys in metro Victoria.”
The event incorporates a mixture of intensive training sessions and tournament-style play, offering these young athletes their first taste of the Victorian High Performance system. This initial exposure lays a solid foundation for their future ambitions in basketball.
